I have always been drawn to a time when needlepoint kits became more mainstream and were readily available for the public to purchase. The range of colours wasn't as it was today and the dyes used often appeared gaudy and cheap... right up my street! At the same moment in history – namely the 50s and 60s – the package holiday became a way for ordinary working people to start seeing more of the World. The idea of exploring a land and its people became very appealing and romanticised. Cue the launch of kitsch images from the cafes of Paris, the markets of Morocco and the streets of Andalucia.

In a World that is becoming increasingly homogenised and Global, I feel a lot of nostagia for a time when travelling meant difference and exoticism. I have always had a very special place in my heart for Spain and have spent many holidays exploring this beautiful country. I am drawn to the culture, the climate, the food and even learned to dance Flamenco many years ago.
